NSF Convergence Accelerator: Speed Dating for Techies

The National Science Foundation funds work at the frontiers of science and engineering. We’ve been tasked to introduce its revolutionary Convergence Accelerator, an exciting new venture designed to speed ‘Big Ideas’ from basic research into viable products and solutions that benefit all Americans.

“It is a disruptor to our usual way of doing business. It’s like a competition—but everybody is moving towards a common goal.”
–FRANCE CORDOVA, Director of the National Science Foundation (NSF)

43 teams have been selected to develop an array of pilot projects across the country, focusing on two of the NSF’s ten Big Ideas: Harnessing the Data Revolution and the Future of Work.

“It’s kind of like speed dating for technical people.”
–MOON DUCHIN, Associate Professor of mathematics at Tufts University

A Loma video series follows the participants from initial challenges to ultimate goals: Leverage multidisciplinary research and lay the groundwork for innovative public-private partnerships between government, academia and industry.
