Quick Tips: How to Make your Video Advertisement Stand Out

At Loma Media, we work with a wide range of clients on many different kinds of projects.  And one of the things we hear a lot is “How can we get our video to go viral?”  Well, that’s no easy task and there’s no quick formula for success (I mean, unless you have a cute cat as your star).  But, there are some basic tenets you can follow in order to increase the likelihood that your video will be the next internet sensation.  Here are five of them:

#1) Keep it short

Simply put, time is limited and there’s a lot of content out there. Just keep it short. Period.

#2) Comedy is your friend… Just make sure you’re actually funny

Two words: Just Be Funny (okay maybe three words). With apologies to Leslie Nielson, comedy MIGHT just be your ticket to an extremely successful video and a way to break through the clutter.

#3) Make it relatable

You’re not just going to throw your stamp of approval on anything, are you? The sharing of online video is similar to how people share jokes with one another. Advertisers will do anything to get you to pass their video along, but if the message feels forced and the video seems to try too hard, it will die a slow death and rest in peace in YouTube heaven. You know the difference – so do your viewers.

#4) Remember G.A.F. (“Grab Attention Fast”)

The average American is exposed to over 5,000 messages daily so you must ask yourself, how do we make them pay attention to ours? Have a strong introduction – the YouTube generation is fickle, so Grab their Attention Fast.  A big open makes a big impression.

#5) Lastly, make sure you “Get that B Roll”…

This one is pretty self-explanatory 😉
