Making the Impossible Possible

Extolling the best of government in the worst of times.

On January 7, 2025, devastating fires of historic proportions hit Los Angeles. Communities were left in ruins–over 13,000 households displaced, more than 11,000 homes destroyed, lives and livelihoods lost. Immediate relief was critical.

Responding quickly, Los Angeles County, the California Department of Social Services and CalSAWS united to rapidly deliver Disaster CalFresh benefits to vulnerable populations.

Loma was called upon to document the highly coordinated, compassionate effort. Advanced automation streamlined processes, allowing the swift delivery of safeguarded benefits in the face of overwhelming challenges.

Through partnership and technology, families who had lost everything were given an essential lifeline–a powerful example of how responsive systems and committed teams can profoundly impact lives during crisis.
