In a crowded entertainment landscape, market domination can be fleeting. EA SPORTS wanted to explore fresh avenues of outreach to passionate video gamers while connecting with new, young audiences. We were tasked to provide an engaging, live action dynamic to drive the most exciting digital experience in sports.
The Approach
Our connection with the next generation of enthusiasts began with EA SPORTS Game Time, an ‘all-access pass’ inside the world of sports. Aimed primarily at a young audience (9-16), the groundbreaking national TV series featured how-to segments that got viewers off the couch and into the game, profiles of the coolest jobs in sports and an inside look at the making of famous EA SPORTS titles.
Given the ‘ultra-connected’ nature of our target market, Game Time also established social media pages featuring both athlete-generated and user-generated content. Produced in partnership with the NFL, PGA and major brands including Kellogg’s, we engaged with iconic sports stars including Messi, Tiger Woods and Brett Favre.
Building on the series’ success, we embarked on a star-driven digital media campaign that re-heated sales of the globally popular FIFA videogame. NBA legend Kobe Bryant and Russell Westbrook squared off with U.S. soccer stars Alex Morgan and Karli Lloyd in a humorous video series with genuine global appeal.

Our work for FIFA helped achieve record sales for the world’s best selling sports video game. EA SPORTS GameTime became a critical and commercial success, resulting in the concept being picked up by CBS for national network broadcast.
