ELEVATING AN ASCENDANT ATHLETICS PROGRAM
The Brief
The university’s mantra is “I believe that we will win!” We helped build a world-class stadium, recruit outstanding student-athletes, double the campus footprint and position the Aztecs for national success.

The Challenge
As the flagship campus of the California State University system, SDSU strives to excel in all disciplines. Athletics is a key component of national recognition, and success on the scoreboard begins with world-class facilities that attract top athletes and expand the fan base.
An independent ballot measure to expand the campus and build a new multi-purpose stadium was before the voters. We were tasked to present the university’s vision and, if successful, help fill the new stadium’s seats.
The Approach
We built on the success of 9 previous initiatives we had produced for SDSU, which included funding for a new basketball training facility, a booster club membership drive, football season ticket campaigns and student-athlete recruiting media.
Drawing on this holistic background, we produced a centerpiece ‘kickoff’ video for the campus-wide launch event that unveiled SDSU’s vision to the community, underscored the university’s commitment and coalesced a unified effort.
Loma subsequently became a key part of the team advocating for the ‘SDSU Mission Valley’ independent ballot measure, producing the bilingual broadcast campaign that leadership deemed decisive. Heavily outspent by a competing interest, we nonetheless won in a landslide. The effort was named Best Ballot Measure Campaign of the Year by the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC).
With a new stadium now an impending reality, we then produced a major media presentation for SDSU’s Experience Center, positioning the venue to potential sponsors, partners and ticket buyers. During Snapdragon Stadium’s debut season, we produced action-driven, multi-sport video content for in-venue and related uses.

The Takeaway
This was our first ‘from vision to victory’ stadium, but not our first rodeo. Loma’s legacy of work on behalf of major university athletic (and academic) programs includes marketing, student recruiting and/or fundraising for Alabama, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Harvard, Iowa, Miami, Northwestern, Stanford, UCLA, UC San Diego, USC and Virginia.
