The nation’s 2023 Holiday period will be the longest ever, but airport security lines are about to get shorter. That’s because a key partnership between TSA and the DHS Science & Technology Directorate is pursuing transformative R&D activities to increase security effectiveness, reduce wait times and dramatically improve the passenger experience.
Screening at Speed (SaS) Program technologies now in development will enable the rapid screening of passengers and their belongings—and, in the future, not just at airports. Stadium, special event and mass transit security will also become faster and more efficient.
We’re helping spread the word about the promise of ‘self-screening,’ powered in part by the Silicon Valley Innovation Program. As passengers move through the process at their pace, they will generate a single, integrated security picture enabled by a consortium of S&T and SVIP-funded startups and companies.
