Created to enable long-lasting societal impact, each NSF Tech Accelerator team builds upon basic research and discovery to ensure transformative technologies reach Americans everywhere faster.

The model requires attracting and aligning a vast, multidisciplinary talent pool to advance critical and emerging technologies. Our first mission was to create broad awareness while establishing a scalable, cost-effective communications model for innovators, researchers and partners.

Our messaging emphasized the program’s unique approach and amazing possibilities to key audiences that include potential participants, diverse practitioners and cross-cutting partnerships. Outreach began with the launch of the Convergence Accelerator, a pilot program featuring 43 Phase I teams.

We produced an interactive virtual event that introduced initial results to audiences in 30 nations, followed by ‘storytelling’ media celebrating the program’s key successes and expanding vision. Our work then expanded to include the ongoing production of curriculum training video series focused on customer discovery, human-centered design, pitching, product-market fit and other entrepreneurial skills to help research teams take their technologies to the next level.

From the playing field to the physics lab, “teamwork” is critical for success. In this case, teams are drawn from academia, industry, government, nonprofit, and other communities of practice—all areas of LOMA expertise gained through 20+ years of highly relevant experience.
